Scandals/Sick and Illegal Activity by Individuals in Power

Up one level

Does power corrupt, or are corrupt people just more attracted to positions of power? Here are links to such famous scandals as Plame, Abramoff, prostitution, and much more.

Jack Abramoff — last modified 2007-09-03 13:01
Lobbyist Jack Abramoff convicted of crimes, and then everyone he was involved with in the government pretends to not know him? Unless the other players in the crimes are tried and convincted, Abramoff seems like yet another scapegoat.
Illegal Firing of US Attorneys — last modified 2007-08-01 01:30
Firing governmental attorneys not due to poor job performance, but because they actually do their job and make a ruling you don't like? The Judiciary branch is slowly being taken over... so much for checks and balances.
Sex Scandals — last modified 2008-11-07 10:28
From prostitution, both homosexual and straight, to pedophilia; both of which are extremely prevalent, and are a huge, disturbingly twisted problem. Funny how I'm talking about the people who are supposed to be the representatives of the American people.
Plame — last modified 2008-08-29 13:26
Top government officials outing the name of CIA Agent Valerie Plame... was it purely motivated by petty revenge due to her husband Joe Wilson speaking up about how there were no WMDs in Iraq, or was the real reason something much more sinister... such as keeping Plame from her job; keeping track of Iran's nuclear production.
Hiding Public Information — last modified 2008-10-21 01:26
It's a little hard to keep track of our government when they hide everything they're doing from us, even things that are definitely supposed to be made public!
Stealing Money — last modified 2008-11-13 03:58
The ones we are supposed to trust tend to make money illegally, usually hurting others in the process, whether it be through abusing taxpayer money, or causing unnecessary death.
Blackmail — last modified 2007-07-20 23:26
Blackmailing our high-ranking officials to do their bidding
Conspiracy to Lie — last modified 2008-09-29 18:43
I know this can include pretty much every category but...
Drugs — last modified 2008-05-30 07:14
The appropriately-named "Drug War" is a joke. It's simply an excuse to overpopulate our jails (which has become a money-making business!) and keep the drugs for themselves.
Duke Cunningham — last modified 2007-07-25 09:38
Duke Cunningham, yet another disgusting scandal.
Iran-Contra — last modified 2007-05-30 00:12
The infamous Iran-Contra scandal
JFK — last modified 2008-09-29 18:40
Anyone who knows anything realizes by now the original story behind the JFK assassination is a bunch of baloney... so what really did happen, and who was behind it?
Neocons Getting Away With Crimes — last modified 2008-11-07 10:30
Although there are a few scapegoats, most friends within the administration are apparently beyond the law.
Sibel Edmonds Case — last modified 2007-06-10 19:35
Illegal arms trafficking, heroin trafficking, money laundering, terrorist activities and the corruption of many US government officials
